Suggested Ages: 6+

Materials Needed:

  • Water Balloons—at least one for every two people; extras are a good idea in case a balloon is defective
  • Water source

Water Balloon Toss

  1. Pick a partner.
  2. Give each pair of players one balloon.
  3. Fill your balloon with water and tie it closed.
  4. Stand in a side-by-side line with half of the players. The other half of the players (including your partner) will form their own side-by-side line, facing your line.
  5. Toss the water-filled balloon back and forth to your partner. The other players will be doing this at the same time. If your water balloon breaks, you and your partner are out.
  6. Move the lines back as play progresses. The idea is for partners to have to throw the water balloon further and further to each other. The last pair with an unbroken water balloon wins.

Tips:

  • To make the game extra challenging, play on a solid surface such as asphalt. If you want to make it difficult, play on gravel. Balloons do not always burst if dropped on a soft surface such as grass.
  • Feel free to throw extra water balloons at the winning pair! Half the fun of this game is getting soaking wet.
  • If you don’t want to use water balloons, use flour and regular balloons. Just pour in the flour using a sieve and toss.
