Hairy Harry
- Place the toe of the knee high into the drinking glass, until it just touches the bottom of the glass. Stretch around the top of the glass, and secure with the rubber band.
- Pour the grass seeds into the toe of the stocking.
- Gently pour the sawdust on top of the grass seeds. Try not to mix the two.
- Slide the rubber band down the glass until it releases the stocking. Then, remove the stocking from the glass.
- Squeeze the nylon together just above the sawdust, tightening the seeds and sawdust into a ball in the end of the stocking. Make sure that there are no gaps between the knee high and the sawdust and seeds.
- While you are holding the knee high tight, have someone tie a tight knot with the fishing line just below where you are squeezing.
- Cut the extra knee high off.
- Decorate your Hairy Harry with eyes, a nose and a mouth.
- Place your Hairy Harry in a bowl of water, and hold it there until it sinks to the bottom on its own. Once saturated, remove your Hairy Harry and place in a low dish with the top of its head (where the grass seeds are) facing up. Place the dish in a warm sunny place. Keep a little water in the bottom of the dish, so that it remains moist.
Tips:
See how long the “hair” takes to grow 12 inches. Cut the hair and use more/less water to see if it takes the same amount of time to grow 12 inches.
